in the words & figure<lb></lb>
following ViztIn Pursuance of an Order of Court of the 17th. of December instant<lb></lb>
to consider of the duty of the porter of this Hospital This Comee have accordingly Consider<lb></lb>
the same and apprehend the duty to be as follows Vizt.</p>

<lb></lb>
That at the bottom of the last folio of each of the two Books which have been consider by the<lb></lb>
Steward one of which is to be delivered to the Porter wherein this to keep a Register of he prisoner<lb></lb>
there be wrote in words of length the number of the folios in the whole and that the same be<lb></lb>
signed by the Porter as well as the Steward</p>

<lb></lb>
That when he received any Prisoners he do imediately indose on the back of the Warrant the<lb></lb>
day & hour when such prisoners was received (if not before so intand by some other servant of<lb></lb>
the Hospital) and subscribe his name close to such Indorsement</p>

<lb></lb>
That he do number the Warrants on the front in the Numerical Order as they come in</p>
<p n="1771"> <note type="authorial" place="margin">4th.</note>
<lb></lb>
That he do certain his Book the number of the Warrant the name of the Prisoners committed<lb></lb>
by whom when on where Oath & for what Causeand for all Warrants of Committed when<lb></lb>
shall come in from Eight of the Clock in the Morning untill four of the Clock in the afternoon<lb></lb>
he having entered them in his Book do carry them by six of the Clock the same day on some<lb></lb>
if he can to the Steward to be entred in like man not by him in his Book (who is to certain the<lb></lb>
by Ten of the Clock the next Morning)And for all Warrants Committment which<lb></lb>
shall come in from four of the Clock in the Afternoon untill Eight of the Clock the next<lb></lb>
Morning being entred in like manner by him be carried to the Steward by Ten of the Clock<lb></lb>
to be entred in like manner by him in his Book (who is return them by four of the clock<lb></lb>
Afternoon)And that he do carefully file the said Warrants in order accordingly to their number</p>

That in the Margine to his said Book he do enter by what Authority each Prisoners was<lb></lb>
discharged and if Corrected to be also inserted in the Margine</p>

That he prepare a Compleat Kalendar for the <rs type="occupation" id="BBBRMG20206_occ2146">President</rs>

& Trear against the sitting of said<lb></lb>
Court for Tryal of Prisoners containing an Account of all Prisoners remaining by order of<lb></lb>
any former Courts the whole number of Prisoners comitted by Warrant from the last Court<lb></lb>
to that & in case any of them have been discharged be twixt the Court days it be said in the<lb></lb>
Margine by whom, and that he have those Discharged ready to produceAnd that the said<lb></lb>
Kalendar be Examined if right & signed by the Steward as also himself asserting they are so</p>

That in case of Escapes he use his Best Endeavour to retake the PrisonerAnd that the<lb></lb>

and Trear be acquainted with such Escapes & retaking if they are got again</p>

That he view the Prisoners well & cause his Man the Matron & her servant the Beadle<lb></lb>
Hempdresser & his Servants to do the same and if they know any of he Prisoners to have her<lb></lb>
for the Hospital before that he do insert it in the Kalendar that it may be read to the Court</p>

To keep the Prisoners safe & elean till they still be duly discharged & to deliver them daily to<lb></lb>
the Hompdresser & visit them in the shops to see that they be kept to labor & not abusedtent<lb></lb>
daily in his Diet book the due number of Prisoners to be charged to the Hempdresser & the pay<lb></lb>
reason why any of them are not at labor if any such there beAnd to being the Dictbook<lb></lb>
every Monday Morning with the preceeding Weeks accot. entred therein to the Steward to enter<lb></lb>
in his Bookto compare his book with the stewards and sign the Steward Dictbook when<lb></lb>
so compared to vench the same if right</p>

To Give an Account to the Steward when any Prisoner is sick and not able to work that<lb></lb>
he may send for the Phisitian Surgeon or Apothecarry as occasion may be</p>

To make a faithfull Report to the Clerk of the Hospital some comement time before Easter of the<lb></lb>
Number of Prisoners committed in the Year past that it may be printed in the Annual Easter Report</p>

To walk in the processier to the Spittal at Easter with his Govn on & his Staff of Office in his head<lb></lb>
before the School Master who walks at the Head of the Artsmasters & their apprentices</p>

To see that the Workman & their Stewards do go regularly & duly about their Work & that some of the<lb></lb>
do every Evening when they lease Work enter an Account thereof in the respective Books Provided &<lb></lb>
larlgothin his Appartment for that purpose</p>

To Sett a light constantly every Evening before it is quite dark in the Lanthem preaded for that purpose in the<lb></lb>
small window in his Kitchen to give light to the great Gateway & keep the light burning untill the Watch is sett</p>

To see the Gates of the Hospital are shutt at 9 o' Clock from Michas to Laday & at from Laday to Michas<lb></lb>
& that the locks fastings & Kings of the Gates Doors & Prison & Care kept Oild & in good Order</p>

To see that his Man do come upon the Watch every Night at time & stay there till Eleven o' Clockand<lb></lb>
that time to see one of the Beadles or his Man in their respective Turns become upon the Watch</p>

To be at the school every Morning at School time & enter in the school book the names of such<lb></lb>
Apprentices as neglect coming to school with the reasons for such neglect</p>

To attend the Courts & Comees and to wait upon the <rs type="occupation" id="BBBRMG20206_occ2148">President</rs>

Gownto make out the Summens's to be delivered by the Beadles to the Prosecutors of Prisonerssat<lb></lb>
he & his man are never to be abont from the Hospital at the same time</p>

at the Gate of the Hospital & to conduct him to & from the Court on publick<lb></lb>
seen Irons with his Governor & his Staff of office in his hand</p>

To Assist & obey his Superior officers when called thereto by them to keep his Man & the Beadles in<lb></lb>
Obediance to him & as Constable to call & command them to his Alet & Assistance in performing his duly</p>

<lb></lb>
To Acquaint his Superior officers of any misbehaviour of the Beadles or his Man</p>
<p n="1789"> <note type="authorial" place="margin">22d.</note>

And for the better Execution of his office he is annually abt Christmas to be sworn at Guildhall <obscured></obscured>

All Which nevertheless is submitted to the Judgment of the CourtAnd it is ordered that<lb></lb>
