Friday 2d. July 1736

in the said premes to comence from the Expiration of his present Term
The Comee have since taken a view of the said premes and did a acquaint
the said Mr. Tantum that he should alter his proposalls and make a nother
respecting only the two Houses that were burn'tWhereupon at a Comee
holden at the said Hospital on the 26th. of May last the said Joseph Tantum
proposed to layout in the new erecting and building of the two Houses burn't
down and destroyed by the late Fire at Wapping street by wapping dock
near £600. upon his having the Term that is now to come in the old
Lease made up (as to these two houses) 61 years and the Ground Rent of
the whole Tenements proportioned and to pay for the Fine to the said
Hospital Ten Guineasbut desires that he may not be obliged to
make the Building quite so deep as before the fire but the 2 or 3 feet
may be left to enlarge and make the small Yards more convenient for
the said Housesthe Comee then considered the said Proposals and
were of Opinion, That on Mr. Tantum's surrendring up the said Lease
in being and paying the old Ground Rent to Laday last, a new Lease
be granted him of the four houses now standing or the residue of the
Term to come in the old Lease at the Yearly Rent of £5 to and
that upon his prying a fine of £50 and agreeing to lay out £600 in
rebuilding the said two Houses according to the second rate of
Building, a new Lease be granted him of the ground whereon the said
two Houses stood for a Term of 61 years from Laday last at the Rent
of £3. P ann with the like Covenants as are in the Old Lease
and the said Mr. Tantum being acquainted with the Comittee's opinion,
desired time to consider thereofand having now considered the
premes did at this comee agree to surrender up the old Lease and
take such new Leases and upon the Terms and Conditions the comee
proposed above to grant the same, and gave half a Guinea to the Poor's
boxall which nevertheless is submitted to the Judgment of the
Courtand it is ordered that this opinion be reported to the
next CourtThis Court doth confirm the said Report and order
that Leases be made to the said Joseph Tantum accordingly

Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date
the 12th. day of May last under the hands of the Right Worspll . Robert

of an order of Court of the sixth of MaylasThis Comittee have
enquired into the duty of the office of Matron of this Hospital and
into her salary and perquisitesand find that the Wages or
Salary Payable to the Matron for herself and maid is only £27 P ann
and the perquisites arising from the said office to be very small and
unequal to her care duty and Trust are of Opinion that £13 P ann be
added to her said salary which will make the same payable to her £40.
P ann and that such additional payment and salary do comence from
Laday last and be continued during the pleasure of the Court All which
neverthless is submitted to the JudgmentAnd it is Ordered that
this opinion be reported to the next CourtThis Court having
duly weighed and considered of the said Report doth confirm the same.
