Locks Gift Hospital}


In Pursuance of an Order of Court made the 24th day of November
last This Court took into Consideration the Petition of James Pike< no role > Weaver (who
Served his Apprenticeship to Mr Daniel Nipp< no role > One of the Artsmasters of this Hospital)
Praying some part of Mr Locks Gift to Enable him to Carry on his TradeAnd
the Court being Informed that he behaved himself very In during the time of his
Apprenticeship being four times in the black book Are of Opinion the said James
Pike
< no role > ought not to have any part of Mr Locks Gift which is for the Assistance and
Incouragement of those who should behave themselves well during their Apprenticeship
And It is Order'd that the said Petition be Rejected.

of the Apprentices}

The Account kept by the Porter of This Hospital of the Apprentices
who Stay out late at night being laid before this Court it thereby Appear'd that
Thomas Dale< no role > (Apprentice to Mr Allen Page< no role > one of the Artsmasters of this Hospital)
Sometimes lyes out all night and frequently Stays out very late thos he has been often
Reprimanded and for given for the same Fact by Mr Treasurer and his said Master
And the said Thos: Dale< no role > being brought before this Court This said Master
came with him and Acquainted The Court That does not only keep bad homes but is
very Idle and with not Work but but when he pleaseWhereupon It is Order'd
That the said Thomas Dale< no role > be Corrected in the presence of the rest of the Apprentices
(which was done accordingly) and that he return home to his Master

to return home to his Mrs. who
is to have ye Wages due to him
for his Service on board a Man of Warr}

Josiah Thrope< no role > (Apprentice to Mr John Machin< no role > late one of the Artsmaster
of this Hospital deced having run away from his said Master fifteen Months and Entered
himself for part of the time on board the Chatham Man of Warr where he Continued from
January last till this present Month of April) came before this Court and produced a
Certificate for his wages for that time & Desired they would be pleased to forgive him this
Offence and that he might have leave to return home to his Mistress and promised to Serve
the Remainder of his time duly and faithfully with her or any other Person that the Court
should be pleased to Elect in his said late Masters room And his said Masters Son
Acquainting this Court that he had been a good Servants and that this was his first
Offences It is Order'd that he Return home to his Mistress (who is to have the
Ticket to receive his Wages) And that the Steward of this Hospital to give him a Suit of Clothes.
