of the Company was presented to This Court & read Setting forthThat they was
[..] ted by Lathe petted dated 19 Augt 15 bar: 2d.sThat in Pers [..]
thereof they made Several By lanes for the better regulation of the their Trade which are Rat [..]
by the Earl of Cla [..] then Lord Chenclr. Sr Robert Hyde< no role > then Cheif Justice of the
Kings Bench & Sr Orlando Bridgeman< no role > then Cheif Justice of the Comon Pleas by Deed
under there hands and Seals dated the 4th. of July 1664That by one of the said
By lanes It is Ordered that on Person then using a which Should [..] up the
said Art or Trade should keep or bind any Apprentice otherwise then as as therein
Apprentice Vizt:Any Person who had sure free of the said Company One Year
might keep one Apperntice & no more till he should have been free four Years & then
then & one more untill her Should have been Other Master, Warden Assistants or Liberty
of the said Company & hold & Execute the same & then to have then Apprentice &
no moreThat by another of the said by lanes It is Ordered that suits Persons who
thereafter sh [..] free of the said Company or Excuse the said Art or Mistery & shou'd trade
any Person other then his Male Child or Children or Apprentice to be bound undo or bred
up on the said Trade according to the Laws of this Kingdom & Custom of London & Orders
of the said Company the said Trade or Mastery or any thing thereto belonging Send for any
such of [..] for just & pay to the Master & Warden for the time being £50
That they no Informed William Spencer< no role > who is a Freeman of the said Company and
Qualify'd to keep but 2 Apprentice is making Interest to be one of the Artsmasters of
the Hospital of Bridewell & if her [..] be Elected they Apprehend he must be Obliged to
keep a much greater Number than he is Qualified to keep according to the said By law
That therefore they hope the Count will be pleas'd to take this into Consideration &
not Elect a Person an Artsmaster who cannot be a Service able as others night be
without Bread of the said By Laws Which the company shall think themselves obliged
to Maintain by bringing Actions as often as the said William Spencer< no role > shall be Guilty
of a Breach thereof

Upon Reading the Several humble Petition of James Lipscome< no role > &
William Cook< no role > Citizens and Weavers & of William Spencer< no role > Citizen & Framework knitter
of London to be Admitted on Arstmaster in the said Hospital in the room of
Thomas Sergeant< no role > Weaver deceased And they being Severally put in Nomination
the plurality of hands Appear'd to be for the said James Lipscome< no role >
Whereupon It is Order'd that the said James Lipscomes< no role > (upon delivering
a Certificate of his Settlement to the Clerk Ge [..] dusing a Copy of his freedom
of this City) be Admitted an Artsmaster of the Hospital until the next Election Day
Giving Seventy as usual in the like Cases & Entring into the Usual Covenants
with a [..] to be added that he will not Set up or Use any Engine Looms
in this Hospital and that Jarneymen which he shall Empley in his said Trade
shall be such as have Served their Apprenticeship in this Hospital
And it is further Order'd that he have such Appartment as the Committee
of the House shall Direct.
