This Comittee haveing taken into Consideracon the Petition and
proposall of Willm Burton< no role >
Hempdresser
(One of the Artsmasters
of
Bridewell
Hospll:) touching the Setting up the Manufacture of Sailcloth
to this Committee referred And having heard the said William Burton< no role >
as to the Progress he has made and Seen a pair of Sailcloth of his
working and also viewed both the Buriall Grounds menconed in his
Petition and Proposall This Comittee are of Opinion
That the Setting up the said Manufacture in this Hospll: may be useful
to the Publick, and coud to the promoting and Advancing the particular
design of the Charity of this Hospitall
That the most convenient Peace for the Setting up a workehouse for the
same Will be on the South Side of the new Buriall ground And That if
a Shed be there Sett up about Ninety Foot long against the South wall
and tenn Foot wide and the Buriall ground Inclosed us the north East
End Itt will take up onely a peice of that ground of which noe Use
was made and will not be the least damage or Inconveniency to the
Buriall place
That the Charge of the Erecting such a Work house will be Sixtye
pounds or thereabouts which it may be fitt for this Hospll. to be at
towards the Encouragement of set Usefull a Manufacture The said

being obliged to Answr. the Intent of his proposall as to
the Training up of Apprentices Setting the poor of the Precinct and the
prisoners at work in Such manner as by the Court shall be directed
or approved.
That the Three Roomes (which are now the Appartment of the
Reader and Scholdmaster
) be laid to the dwelling house of the said

out of wth. they were taken And That the Reader be
provided for elsewhere And there being now Empty the Roomes or
appartmt: which Richard Swiby< no role >
Glover
lately lived in where there is
noe Shop the Same being laid to the next house And considering it
is fitt onely for a Glover
which is a poore and unconsiderable trade
This Comittee are of opinion That that may be a proper appartmt. for
the Reader
And the said Report being here duely weighed and considered of
is Confirmed by this Court And Itt is hereby referred to the Comittee
of the said Hospll: to Consider how in the most Fitt manner to oblige the
said William Burton< no role >
to Answr: the Intent of his proposall on his part
and to doe therein as shall Seeme to them most for the Benefitt of the
said Hospitall.
