FURTHER DISTURBANCES.</p>
<p n="2599">Yesterday evening an immense Concourse of<lb></lb>
People, to the amount of Several thousands, as-<lb></lb>
sembled in the town of Portsea, and began to<lb></lb>
carry their design of demanding provisions at<lb></lb>
a reduced price into execution. The military<lb></lb>
beat to arms, and remained so in the Barracks<lb></lb>
till near twelve o' clock at night. Three hun-<lb></lb>
dred Constables, who had been made in the day<lb></lb>
for the Occasion, entered amongst the people,<lb></lb>
and after receiving some opposition, the crowd<lb></lb>
were prevailed upon to disperse; but it was not<lb></lb>
Until a late hour that the town was restored to<lb></lb>
tranquillity. We are apprehensive that it is<lb></lb>
not Over. Several towns in this neighbourhood <lb></lb>
are in the same agitated Situation; and though<lb></lb>
the People might be quieted for a season, no-<lb></lb>
thing short of a very Considerable reduction in<lb></lb>
the Price of provisions can effectually pacify<lb></lb>
them.</p>
