<p n="90">Upon the Examination of your Con-<lb></lb>

, it appears<lb></lb>
that he hath conveyed 1159 Persons by 622<lb></lb>
Orders, within his Years Contract, which<lb></lb>
upon a Computation of Seven Shillings an<lb></lb>
Order, amounts to £217.14s. (such Compu-<lb></lb>
tation being justified by an Inspection of<lb></lb>
the Gross of the Orders the preceding<lb></lb>
Year) but if the Sum of £149.13s, which<lb></lb>
was ordered contrary to the said Order of<lb></lb>
Sessions be added, it makes the Sum £367.7s,<lb></lb>
when deducting £120. the contractors Salary<lb></lb>
and Extra Maintainence, the Saving to the<lb></lb>
County is sufficient to Demonstrate the Util-<lb></lb>
ity of the said Order of Sessions.</p>
<p n="91">Upon the Whole, your Committee duly<lb></lb>
considered the Premises, think them<del>selves</del>
<lb></lb>
fully justified in declaring their Opinion,<lb></lb>
that the Order of Sessions of July 14th. 1757.<lb></lb>
hath been productive of good Consequences<lb></lb>
to this County, by saving a large Sum of<lb></lb>
the Public Money; and in many Respects<lb></lb>
it hath produced more regular Proceeding<lb></lb>
upon the Vagrant Act, and your Committee<lb></lb>
report it their Opinion, that the Interest of<lb></lb>
this County is greatly, concerned in the full<lb></lb>
and explicit Compliance of the Magistrate<lb></lb>
to the said Order, and that the said Order<lb></lb>
ought to be inforced by the Sessions by all<lb></lb>
lawful</p>
<p n="92">lawful Means, and your Committee are of<lb></lb>
Opinion that if any Opposition should con-<lb></lb>
tinue to the Efforts of the Sessions to save<lb></lb>
the Public Money, considering that the great<lb></lb>
Sums of Money thus expended, hath not in<lb></lb>
the least answered the Intention of the Legi-<lb></lb>
slature, the Nuisance of Beggars still con-<lb></lb>
tinuing as great as ever. This Court are<lb></lb>
possessed of Facts sufficient to justify an Ap-<lb></lb>
plication to Parliament, for an Alteration of<lb></lb>
the Law in this Respect to prevent the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50463_occ24">Dis-<lb></lb>
sipation of the Public Money</rs>

take into Consideration, the Proposal of<lb></lb>

ting to the Conveying Vagabonds from the<lb></lb>
North, East, and West Parts of this County<lb></lb>
to their respective Settlements in this Coun-<lb></lb>
ty, and forwarding those whose Destination<lb></lb>
is through this County; and to clear the<lb></lb>
Bridewells and other Places of Lodgment of<lb></lb>
Vagabonds four Times every Week, (that is<lb></lb>
to say) twice a Week to the North and East,<lb></lb>
and twice to the West, and regularly go to<lb></lb>
