the peace hereunto Annexed to look into the Deeds relating to the<lb></lb>
Estate belonging to this County heretofore given or Conveyed by<lb></lb>
Sr. Baptist Hicks or any other person or persons, And to See to what<lb></lb>
uses & purposes the rents and Profits of the Said Estate were<lb></lb>
given, And to See what is in hand arising from the Said Rents<lb></lb>
and profits, And if any part thereof may be properly applyed<lb></lb>
towards repairing the House of Correction Do hereby certifye to<lb></lb>
the Court of General Sessions of the peace holden for the Said<lb></lb>
County, That Pursuant to the Said Order a Meeting has been<lb></lb>
had for the purposes aforesaid, And that upon Inspecting the<lb></lb>
Deeds and writings relating to the Said Estate<lb></lb>
Itt Appears that the Ground, on which the present Building<lb></lb>

1609 unto Sir Thomas Late & other Justices of Peace for<lb></lb>

Sessions house & Common Prison or house of Correction for<lb></lb>
Committing thereto all manner of Offenders & Malefactors,<lb></lb>
other than for the Capital Crimes of Treason and Felony (therein<lb></lb>
reciting that Newgate was not large enough) which Said Sessions<lb></lb>
house or Common Prison or house of Correction So to be built on<lb></lb>
as aforesaid was to be for the use of the Said County and the<lb></lb>

thereof, the Keeper of the Said Prison to be<lb></lb>

Ground for the time being whensoever there Shall be left of them<lb></lb>
not above Six alive, that they Shall Convey the Same to any<lb></lb>
