that the Overseers had in consequence discontinued
Brewing - and Contracted for Beer which makes a
Saving in that Article of nearly One half

That the Increase of the several Articles
of Grocery has been very considerable & particularly
of Tea & Sugar which was so enormously great as
to induce the Committee to Recommend the immediate
Interference of the Overseers on those Articles also

That the Quantity of Candles consumed has
increased from 72 to 100 dozen Annually but
that the Soap appears to be nearly the same

That there appears to be an increased
Annual Expenditure of 1000 Pounds of Butter
since the year 1792 after allowing for the Numbers
of the Poor.

All the above Articles have been Minutely
and luboriously investigated by the Committee who
now submit the Result to this Board in full confidence
that they will take such Steps as to prevent as much
as possible all future Impositions on the Officers
by giving them all necessary Regulations for their
Conduct in the management of that House and
likewise to Prevent all Waste and Extravagance therein
for which Purpose your Committee are Compiling
certain observations & Regulations which will all
they intend to submit to your Consideration

The Committee beg leave to State that they
have Recommended some material Alterations in the
