the said Commissioners that the Streets Lanes and Courts mentioned in the said List
now produced Marked A be paved first with such Materials and Number of Lamps
as therein mentioned Vizt. Beaufort Buildings Beaufort Street New Boswell
Court Carey Street Clare Court Clements Lane Essex Street Essex Street Little Milford Lane
Portugal Street Portsmouth Street Serle Street and White Horse Yard And for that
purpose that the Commissioners will please to Order the Committee to Advertize
for Contractors for paving fixing up Lamp Irons Lighting Cleaning and all other
Contractors Necessary for that purpose And it is Further Ordered
that a Return be made to the said Commissioners that there is not any Subsisting
Contract with any Parochial Scavenger nor has such Contract been Entered
into for Several years the present Scavenger Accepting of what is Collected for the
that a (which is usually at 3d. pence in the pound) in full for his Trouble And so
Agree's to Continue till further Contract And it is further Ordered that it be
Signifyed to the said Commissioners that it is the Opinion of this Committee that
the Names of all Squares Streets Lanes and other places should be wrote up
at the respective Corners of each Square Street Lane and other place unless
where such Streets Etc are of Considerable Length or have Coach Turnings therein
And in such Case at the Corner also of such Coach Turnings And it is further
Ordered that it be submitted to the said Commissioners that they will be
pleased to Order this Committee forthwith to Advertise for Contractors for
Repairing fixing up Lamp Irons Lighting and Cleaning all and every the Squares
Streets Lanes Courts passages or places mentioned in the said Lists Numbered
1 and 2 Except those mentioned in the said paper Marked A and also for
Cleaning the Streets mentioned in the said List of paper Number 3 from
Midsummer next as this Committee Observe the Subsisting Contract between
the said Commissioners And the Contractor will then Expire And for the purposes
aforesaid It is Ordered that a Copy of these Orders be Sent to the said Commissrs.
