forthwith, as there will be then as year's Rent due at Laday last
on their present Rent you will remember that the Landtax has
been allow'd Gregory to Laday 1750 And the Copy Rents or Quit rents
to Michs 1749 And Taylor's Landtax is allow'd to Laday 1749 and
his Copy rents to Michs 1748. And let Taylor know that he must
expect no Favours, because when the Gent had determin'd to sue
him in Janry. last They postpon'd doing it on his earnest Intrest &
Promise of paying the Arrears in a short time I hope you will
not have much Difficulty in adjusting the Arrears due from each
of the Tenants, as Mr. Barringer, who is as Gentleman of Honour
& Integrity, will be ready to give you all the Information he can
from his Accots. And the Gent desire you will assure him that
nothing but his too great Tenderness for such Tenants has made it
necessary to apply to another who will, it's hoped, shew more Regard to
the Inst. of the two Charities to which that Estate belongs, that is, Sr
Thos. Hospl & the London Workhouse , which as they are of publick
Benefit, so their Int. is to be preferr'd to any private Consideration
And here I shall observe to you that the Recets. for what Rent the Tents
pay you, must be given in the Name of these Charities And that no Land
tax nor Copy rents are to be allow'd without their producing & delivering
up proper Recets. for the same As soon as you return from
Eltisley you will send as Live to
