St Thomas's Hospl
19 Febry 1731
Sir
Your Servant John Whitehead< no role >
attended the Grand Committee
of this Hospital and alledged that his carrying away some Wood
at Orpington
belonging to the Hospl. estate on pretence
of tyth, was without your directions and through his own
ignorance; but as such a proceeding may be of very bad
consequence in that tends to set up a right which may
hereafter be pretended to upon the foot of a Custom if
easely past by, and as it has put the Governours to the
expence of advising with Counsel and other Charges
I have directions from the Committee to Acquaint you
that they insist upon a Satisfaction for the Wood taken
away and all Charges they have been put to and that
you Signify by a line a disapprobation of the Wrong done
in this case by your Servant. Your compliance
herein will prevent further trouble and expence but
I must desire your speedy resolution that no more
time may be lost.
I am Sr, Yr very humble Servt.
