Session House Clerkenwell Green
6th. March 1795.

Minutes of the Committee appointed to consider the Report made by
I. Colquhoun Esquire one of the Justices appointed to Visit the New House
of Correction on Thursday the 19th. Feby the County day of the last Session

Present

William Mainwaring< no role > Esquire in the Chair
John Bond< no role > Esqr. The Reverend Dr. Glasse
John Hole< no role > EsqrPatrick Colquhoun< no role > Esqr
William Bleamire< no role > Esqr Frederick Matthew< no role > Esqr.
Rupert Clarke< no role > Esqr.Hammond Crosse< no role > Esqr.
Aaron Graham< no role > Esqr.

Resolved That it appears to the Committee that it is
abosolutely necessary that the Governor of the House of Correction
should reside entirely in the Prison and that he be desired to do so as
soon as possible and that this resolution be communicated to him
immediately

That it appears to the Committee that the House allotted
for the Residence of the Governor is inconvenient and in many
Respects improperly situated for that purpose that it has not sufficient
or necessary Accommodations and that if it was commodiously
situated it could not be made fit for his Habitation without
incurring a very considerable Expence

And it appearing to the Committee for many reasons that
the Dwelling House of the Governor ought to adjoin the Outer
Wall of the Prison they beg leave to recommend to the Court to takes
such Measures as may be necessary for establishing him in
that Situation and the Committee therather recommend this
Alteration as they conceive some more proper and convenient
Accomodations that the new Building is at present furnish
with may be found necessary for the reception of Persons of
better Rank who may Occasionally be Received into the Prison
