In a Matter of a Petition of William Smith< no role > and William
Smith

Thomas Dickinson< no role > }

Thomas Dickinson< no role > of Great Compton Street in the Parish of
Saint Ann Westminster in the County of Middlesex Cabinet maker and
up holder and William Bullock< no role > of the Stand in the parish of Saint
martin in the Fields in the said County Gentleman Severally
make Oath and say And First the said Thomas Dickinson< no role > for
himself saith That he did no Receive the Copy of the abovementioned
Petition and order of this Honourable Court Untill near One of the Clock at
noon Yesterday And the this Deponent used his Best endeavours
to see the other Deponent William Bullock< no role > his Attorney to give
him Instructions to defend this Deponent against the said
Petition he was not able to see him till after Ten o Clock last Night
tho' this Deponent had left the said Copy of the said Petitiion and
Order at the House of the said William Bullock< no role > And this Deponent
further saith That from the shortness of the Notice of the said
Petition and order this Deponent is not nor can he be prepared to
defendand answer the same this Deponent having several
Witness to Attend who this Deponent cannot get to Attend at
present and this Deponent will be ready to answer and defend the
same at the next Session and the said Deponent William
Bullock
< no role > for himself saith that from the short Notice of the said
Petition and order this Deponent is not nor can he be prepared to
make a proper Defence for the said Thomas Dickinson< no role > at this
present General Session of the peace And that he this Deponent
did last night personally serve the said William smith< no role > the son
with a Notice in Writing that the Court would be Moved this Morning
or so soon after as Councel could be heard that the hearing of the
above Petition and the Order made thereupon might be adjourned
Untill the next Session to be holden in and for the County aforesaid
which Notice this Deponent hath been informed and verily believes
to be True the said William Smith< no role > the son carried and left with
the said William, Smith the Father and did also last Night [..]
another Copy of the said Notice in Writing in the Letter Box or receives
of Letters and papers at the Chamber so Mr W Dobey who is or Acts
as Attorney or Sollicitor for the said Petition at his Chambers in
Furnivals Inn Holborne the Door being Shutt Hand no person
therein to the knowledge of this Deponent
