A GENERAL
DESCRIPTION
OF THE
Principal Materials and Work
To be used and performed in the BUILDING of the
NEW SESSION HOUSE,
FOR THE
COUNTY OF MIDDLESEX.

BRICKLAYER.
All the Bricks to be found, hand, well-burnt Grey Stock Bricks;
to be laid and flushed in the Foundation Walls in Mortar made
of good strong Quick Stone Lime, mixed with clean washed River
Sand, well beat and tempered; and in the order Parts of the Building
to be laid and flushed in good strong Quick Chalk Lime, mixed, beat,
and tempered as aforesaid: Every four Course of such Brick-Work
not to rise more than eleven Inches and a Quarter; and every such
four Course to be grouted. All the Brick-Work externally to be
faced with the brightest coloured Grey Stock Brick, to be selected and
marked for that Purpose, and finished with a ruled Joint. All the
Arches over the several Apertures and Recesses in the external Walls
of the Building, and in the internal Walls of the Sub-Hall, to be
formed of Malm Stocks, gauged and set in Putty; and the Apertures
and Recesses in the internal Walls of the Building to be arched
Bricks of the same Kind as what are to be generally used in the Build-
ing: And all the Groins of Arches to be formed of Malm Stocks.

MASON.
East, or Principal Front.From the Top of the Footings, to the
under Side of the Fascia, which terminates the rustick Part of the
Front, to be of the best Purbeck Stone; the rest of the Front, the Pedestals
