The Information of George Jolliff< no role > of
St. James's Street Bookseller
Taken before me this 13th. day of
Octr. 1761

Who being on Oath says that on Saturday Night last abt.
the hours of ten he went into a Public House Known
by the Sign of Ben: Johnson head in Russell Street
in the Parish of St. Martin in the Fields in Company
with one Hosea Eastgate< no role > an Acquentance of his says
that when they went into the sd. House they turned
to the left hand where they saw a Woman sitting
alone, & at down by her in two Empty Chairs, says that
they had not sat there above a Minute before a Person
now present who calls himself Stephen Dane< no role > who
at that time had a sword by his side came up to the
aforesaid Mr. Eastgate and in this Informant's hearing
said that if he did not leave that Women's Company
(meaning a Woman then sitting by sd. Mr. Eastgate) that
he Wou'd pull his Nose off and otherwise ill un him
or words to that effect, says that some words then passed
between said Mr. Dane and Mr. Eastgate be takeing
Anger, & this Informt. says that he then Spoke to Mr. Dane
desiring him to desist, not to strike them for they came
not to Quarrell but to wait till the Rain was over, says
soon after this a Person came in an Acquaintance of said
Woman's to whom She immediately went over the Table
