The Exaimination of Thomas Cartwright< no role > late
of the Parish of Little Stanmore in the County of
Middlesex Labouror taken before me one of his
Majestys Justices of the Peace for the said County
the 8th day of Aprill 1755

This Examinant saith that on a Sunday
Morning about five Weeks agoe, one James Cannon< no role >
called this Examt up Staires in A Hay left belonging
to Isaac Redwood< no role > in the Parish of Little Stanmore
in the said County of Middlesex & told this Examt
he had broke open Bavins Chist and askt this Examt.
to come & see what was in it; & on goeing to the Chest
he see a Bagg in Cannons Hand & who told this Examt
there was fourteen Shillings in Silver which he had Counted
and then Cannons, put the said Silver in to the bagg again
& put the bagg in the said Chest, & further saith they
both went down Staires & got some nailes & both went
up together to the said Chest & this Examt nailed the
Lock on again, & soon after this matter was known
this Examts, master discharged him & thereupon he left
the Parish & went to worke at Cashio Bridge in the
County of Hertford
