in the County aforesaid by adjornment on Monday the
tenth day of September
in the twenty fourth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the second
King of Great Britain Etc
Whereas the Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St. Clement Danes
in this County
have exhibited their humble petition unto this Court setting forth That Mary Alloway< no role > This name instance is in set 947. This set is in the group(s): MothersCD .
a Vagrant
not having a settlement in the said Parish was on or about the First day of same last taken out of
the Street in the said Parish of St. Clement Danes
in Labour and sent by the Overseers of the Poor to
one of theOversParish Nurses of the said Parish where she was delivered of a Male Bastard
Child by means whereof the Inhabitants of the said Parish were obliged necessarily to expand the sum
of one pounds Sixteen shillings and Six pence for the lying in & maintenance of the said Mary
Alloway< no role >
, And that in pursuance of the Act of Parliament in such case made the Petrs. conveyedtheher
to one of his Majesty's Justices of the peace
for this County who examined the said Mary Alloway< no role >
and committed her to the House of Correction pursuant to the said statute, And the Petitioners therefore
prayed this Court will Order the Treasurer of this County to pay them the said sum of one pounds
Sixteen Shillings and six pence, Now Forasmuch as it appeareth to this Court Upon Oath that the said sum of
one pound sixteen shillings and six pence was necessary laid out and expended for the
lying in and maintenance of the said Mary Alloway< no role >
as aforesaid, whereupon This Court
doth by virtue of the statute in such case [..] made & provided Order that Mr. John Higgs< no role >
Treaser
of this County do pay the said sum of one pound sixteen shillings and sixteen pence unto the
Petitioners or one of them which this Court doth adjudge to be a reasonable satisfaction for the
charges which they have been at for the lying in & maintanance of the said Mary Allowing as
aforesaid And the receipt of the Petitioners or one of them together with this Order or a true copy
thereof shall be a sufficient discharged to the said Treasurer for such payment.
