To the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish ofSaint Martins in the Field in the Liberty of the City of Westminster
in theCountyof Middlesex
and to Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish ofSaint Giles in the Fields
in the said County of
Middlesex and to each and every of them
Whereas Complaint hath made by you the Church-wardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish ofSaint
Martin in the Fields unto us whose Hands
and Seals are hereunto set, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
(whereof one is of the Quorum) for theLiberty and Cityaforesaid
ThatJames Bowen< no role > aged about Twenty One
Years and Catharine< no role > his wife are
lately intrudedand comeinto your said Parish ofSaint
Martin in the Fields
there to inhabit asParishioners contrary to the Laws relating to
the Settlement of the Poor, andthere like to become charge-
able, if not timely prevented: And Whereas, upon due Examinati-
on and Enquiry made into the Premises,as also on Oath
and other Circumstances
it appears unto us, and we accordingly adjudge, That the said
James Bowen< no role > and Catharine his wife are
like to become chargeable unto the said Parish ofSaints Martin
in the Fields and that the last legal Place of
Settlement of the saidJames Bowen< no role >
is in the said Parish of
Saint Martin in the Fields aforesaid, that you
or some of you, do forthwith remove and convey the saidJames
Bowen
< no role > and Catharine his wife
from your said Parish ofSaint Martin
in the Fieldsto the said Parish ofSaint Giles
in the Fields andthemdeliver
to the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or some or
one of them, together with this our Warrant, or Order, or a true
Copy hereof, whereby they are likewise required in his Majesty's
Name, and by Virtue of the Statues in such Case made, forthwith to
receive the saidJames Bowen< no role > and Catharine his
Wife
into their saidParish and Careand provide forthem
as their own Parishioner. Owen under our Hands and Seals. the
FourteenthDay ofNovemberin the Year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred andThirty three.
