William Freind< no role > of Limehouse the County of Middx Perukemaker
maketh oath that he is an Inhabitant of the Hamblett of Limehouse in the
parish of Stebonheath als Stepney in the County of Middx and hath soe
been for about thirty years last past And that at a Town meeting of
severall Inhabitants of the sd. Hamblett held in or about the Month of
December in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and
[..] twelve Thomas Thresher< no role > then Churchwarden of the sd.
Hamblett informed the Inhabitants then present that he had disbursed
a considerable sum of money for the poor of the sd. Hamblett and desired
a rate to reimburse him And that the sd. Inhabitants then told him there
was a sum of money remaining in the hands of John Gardener< no role > late
Churchwarden and another sum remaineing in the hands of Thomas
Holly
< no role > and Richard Tyres< no role > late Overseers of the poor and a fine to be pd.
by one Isaac Heedham< no role > to excuse him from serveing the Office of
Churchwarden which together with the moneys usually paid by John
Richardson
< no role > and Richard Maidman< no role > then Overseers of the poor for
defraying the charge of the casuall poor they beleived might be sufficient
to reimburse him and therefore they refused to make him any rate
And this Deponent saith he afterwards went along with the said
Thomas Thesher< no role > to Mr. Gardeners to demand the moneys
remaining in his hands amounting to the sum of Nineteen pounds
& upwards which he refused to pay without Mr. Dunn the Town or
Vestry clerke was present And this Deponent saith he was
afterwards appointed one of the Auditors of Mr. Thrasher's accounts
on the ballance where of there appeared to be due to him sixty pounds
& upwards to the best of this Deponents remembrance And that
he hath since seen a receipt in the hands of the Widow of the sd.
Mr. Gardener beareing date the Eight and twentieth day of
January One thousand seven hundred and twelve under the
hands of John Richardson< no role > & Richard Maidman< no role > Overseers of the
