Wee whose names are Subcribed and Seales hereto Affixed Two
of her Majties Justices of the peace for the Sd County of Middlx (Quorum
unus) and Inhabiting within the Limmitts of the parish Church
of the parish of St Gyless in the feilds in the sd County haveing
mett together and heard the Complaint of the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the poor of the sd parish of St Gyles's in the feilds
concerning A male Bastard Child borne in the Sd parish on the
body of Mary Spicer< no role > Singlewoman on the TwenteithDay of
July Last past which is Bastard Francis and hath ever
Since the Birth thereof been Chargable to the Sd parish and
soe likely to Continue Doe find upon the Examination
of the sd Mary Spicer< no role > taken upon Oath as alsoe upon the
oath of him Cornelius Midwife< no role > who Delivered the sd Mary Spicer
of the sd Male Bastard Child that Mr William Laney< no role > in
pump Court in the Temple Gentl. did begett on the body
of her the Said Mary Spicer the Said Male Bastard Child
And doe ajudge him the Sd William Laney to be the reputed
Father thereof And doe order And Appoints him the Sd William
Laney forthwith upon notice of this our Order to pay to the sd
Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the sd parish of St
Gyles's in the Feilds the summ of Forty Shillings of Lawfull
mony of Great Brittan Towards defraying the Charge of
the Sd parish for wife of the Sd Male Bastard Child for the
first four Weeks after the Birth thereof and five shillings for
the Midwife as alsoe that he the sd William Laney Shall
Weekly and every Week afterwards pay unto the Churchwardens
And Overseers of the Poor of the Sd parish of St Gyles's in the feilds
or to some or one of them the Summ of Two Shillings and Six pence
for and towards the relife and maintenance of the Sd male Bastard
Child for see Long time at the said male Bastard Child Shall
remaine Chargable to the said parish And of and from the
Charge thereof at all times hearafter shall same Harmeless
and Indemnifie the sd parish of St Gyles's in the feilds And forthwith
give Sufficient Securyty to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
poor of the sd parish of St Gyles's in the feilds for the performance
of his our order or Appear at the next Genll. Quarter Sessions of the peace
to be holden for the Sd County of Middlx then and there to abide Such
Order as her Majties: Justices of the peace or the more pars of them Shall
make in that be halfe Given Under our Hands and Seales ye: 29th
Day of September Anno Domn: 1711 .
