The Informacon of Margarette< no role > Wife of
Leonard Williams< no role > of the Pish of St. Buttolph
Aldgate in the County of Middx Mariner And
Mary< no role > the Wife of William Steele< no role > of the same
Parish & in the County of Middx Mariner taken
upon Oath this Eighth day of November 1710

These Informants say that they being informed One
James Smith< no role > of Kings head Court London had been
guilty of severall evil practices in forging and
counterfeiting severall Wills and being also informed
that the said Smith would for a reward forge any person's Will
in order to detect him thereof These Informants did on the
6th. of Novembr Instant apply themselves to the said Smith
at his house in King's head Court aforesd and told him that
this Informant Margarett Williams who they pretended
was a particular acquaintance of and had been the Swett
hart of one Isaac Hames< no role > lately deced & who in his life time
& at the time of his Death was a Marriner belonging to
her Maties Ship the Windsor from which Ship & others
wherein he had served there was due to him considerable
Sums of money for Wages And these Informants also
pretended that the said Hames had promised the said
Informant Margarett Williams who then pretended her
self to be one Mary Taylor< no role > to make his Will and give her all
or to that Effect And that if these Informants could
but get any writeing made purporting the last Will
& testament of the said Issac Hames they would receive
thereby ConsiderableseverallSums of money due to him as aforesaid & thereupon
the said Smith & these Informants took a Coach and went
to Centchett Friars where they got a blank Seamans Will
printed and then the said Smith in Consideracon of the
Sume of one Guinea paid down and also the further
Sumes of two Guineas for which this Informant
Margarett Williams by the name of Mary Taylor< no role > then
gave him a Note from under her hand payable in about
three months He the said Smith in the presence of
these Informants imediately wrote a Paper writeing
purporting to be the last Will and Testamt. of the
said pretended Isaac Hames and put his the said
