Sworn, I Knew one Evan Evans< no role > was a Prisoner
in the House of Correction for Lottery Insurance in the
Month of December in the Year 1796. I saw him in the
Prison I called on him at the request of his Brother
Evans.

About 7. or 8. Years ago. I kept the Sum
Tavern and afterwards the Admiralty Coffee House
about 7 Years I was not Indicated for keeping a
Bawdy House I left the sun to go to the Admiralty
Coffee House I was a Cheesemonger I was not
Indicted for a Fraud. - I saw Evan Evans< no role > in the
House of Correction I did see the Governor there also
I applied to the Governor by the desire of his Evans
Brother to get him some Indulgence the Governor
told me that for a Day or two he could not but he
should in a Day or 2. after the Committee had met
it was about 1st. 2d. 3d. or 4th. December 1796: I did
go a second time the following Night or the Night
but One after to Mr.. Aris's House< no role > and saw Mr..
Raven there by Appointment I said will you
Indulge Evans Mr.. Aris said he should go into
the Kitchen he sent for Evans from the Goal into
his own apartments to Explain it to him while
I was there Evans came Mr.. Aris told him he
should be indulged by going into the Kitchen

On the 5th.. day of December Mr.. Raven came
to me at Night and asked if I would lend the
Governor £100. for a fortnight; - I met Mr..
Raven the day following that of Mr.. Evan's
Commitment in Parliament Street he said
he knew the Governor very well I said Mr.. Crans
