June 1799.

To the Worshipful the Magistrates for the County of
Middlesex

I beg leave to Acquaint your Worships that an
Application at the Clerks Office for payment of my Bill on
the County of Middlesex for Surveying in the Year 1798. I
found the Examining Committee had Deducted a Charge
of £10..10. for my traveling Expences in Surveying an
Enlargement to Baber Bridge on Hounslow Heath .

I attended Sessions twice to receive Orders and
made and produced Plans Estimates and Particulars
for Repairs and Enlargements attended twice on Mr..
Henderson Mr.. Clithero and other Magistrates at the Bridge
to show in what manner I intended the Improvement
previous to the Works being put in Execution

The Estimate was for Works only above the Bed of the
Stream the Underdepths being uncertain there was a
probability of a Considerable Extra Expence which by
frequent Attendance and Attention I prevented having
made about 20. Journey's to superinted the Works and
Measure and make up the Accounts.

The aggregate Sum I have charged would be very
indifferent pay for the Trouble and time I have expended
on this business. I have followed the usual mode of
Charging 5. Pr.. Cent which Amounted to £10..3..0.
in the present Case I am Money out of Pocket without
any Consideration for my time and trouble

I therefore Solicit Your Worships to Correct the
inadvertent mistake of the Examining Committee by
Ordering payment for my Travelling Expences

I am Your Worships
Faithful humble Servant
Thomas Rogers< no role > .

20th.. June 1798.

It is Ordered That Mr.. Joseph Burchell< no role > the
County Treasurer do pay Mr.. Rogers the sum of Ten
Pounds and ten shillings but that this Order shall not
