To the Right Honourable William Beckford< no role > Esqr.
Lord Mayor of the City of London and to the
Worshipful the Aldermen his Majestys Justices
of the Peace for the same City at their General
Quarter Session of the Peace assembled.

The humble Petition and Appeal of Henry Cothery< no role >
an Inhabitant in the parish of Saint Stephen in
Coleman Street in the said City.

Sheweth.


That by a Rate or Assessment for the necessary Relief of the
poor of the said Parish of Saint Stephen from the twenty
fourth day of June to the twenty ninth day of September
both now last past made and signed by the Major part of
the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said
parish, and allowed and published as the Statutes in
such Cases direct, your Petitioner is rated and assessed
for and towards the Relief of the poor of the said parish
the Sum of one pound five Shillings.

That Your Petitioners humbly
apprehending himself aggrieved by the
said Rate and Assessment, and that the
same is unequal and partial,
appeals to your Lordship and Worships
against the same, and prays that you
would be pleased to quash or amend the
same and grant your Petitioner such
Relief in the Premisses as to your Lordp
and Worships shall seem meet

And your Petitoner shall ever pray Etc.
