belonging to the same Ship Severally make Oath and say that on the Seventh
day of September last the said Ship or Vessel Sailed from portsea
in the County
of Southampton
laden with Ninety eight Tons or Three Thousand Nine Hundred
and Twenty Bushells of English White Salt for and on Account of John
Stewart< no role >
of London Merchant
which said Salt had been Shipped on Board
the said Ship or Vessel from the Great Salterns there on the fifth day of
September last or thereabouts and cleared at portsea
aforesaid in Order to
be Conveyed by Sea to the Port of Dover
; and that the Duty for the said
Salt had been there duly paid to His Majesty and these Deponents Say
that the said Ship or Vessel with the said Salt on Board her in the Course
of her Voyage from portsea
aforesaid to the port of London
on the Ninth
day of September last was taken about two Miles distant from Dungeriess
near Dover
in the County of Kent
by a certain Private Ship of War
called the Hardie belonging to Subjects of the French King then and still
the Enemies of and at War with the King of Great Britain And these
Deponents further Say that they have heard and verily believe that the
said Ship or Vessell with the said Salt on Board her was afterwards
Carried to the port of Bologne
in the Kingdom of France
and there
condemned and Sold for the Benefit of the Owner or Owners of the said
Private Ship of War
