Harvey
< no role > of Caxton in the County of Cambridge Yeoman Severally make Oath and Say
and first this Deponent Joseph Manwaring< no role > fro himself Saith that the Defendant Thomas
Phillips
< no role > in the above Cause was at the last Session holden for the City of London Indicter for
feloniously Uttering and Publishing as true a forged Bill of Exchange with the name
Richd. Hall< no role > Subscribed thereto knowing it to be forged with intent to defraud him this
Deponent And that William Hall< no role > of Caxton aforesaid Father to the said Richard Hall< no role >
is a Material Witness for him this Deponent in the above Cause to prove that the Name
Richard Hall< no role > Wrote upon the said Bill of Exchange is not of his said Sons hand Writing
And without the Testimony of the said William this Deponent cannot with any Safty proceed
to the Trail of the said Cause. This Deponent also Saith that the said William Hall< no role >
Attended the preferring the Indictment at the Last Session and was Sworn as a Witness
thereon and faithfully promised this Deponent that he would come to Town and Attend to give
Evidence on the Trail at the ensuing Session which this Deponent intirely relyed upon And
the said George Harvey< no role > for himself Saith that he is very well acquainted with the said
William Hall< no role > father to the said Richard Hall< no role > And that he this Deponent Saw the said
William Hall< no role > last Monday night at Caxton aforesaid and that he was then very ill of a
Cold and very infirm being near Eighty Years of Age as the said William Hall< no role > then
declared to hin this Deponent and which this Deponent verily beleived to be true for that
the said William Hall< no role > appeared to him this Deponent to be so will infirm and Weak as not to be
able to take such a Journey as up to London at this time And Lastly this Deponent Saith
that on the next morning he Set out for London himself with the Caxton Waggon as the
Waggener thereof and that he was obliged to Set out with the said Waggon this day from
London to Caxton again
