The Informacon of Mary Barnes< no role > wife of John
Barnes
< no role > Tayler taken upon oath this 12th. Day of
January Ao Din 1709 .

This Informt. deposeth that she being a Servt . to one Mr. John
Edwards
< no role > a Woollen draper in Smithfeild London did about the
one & Twentyeth day of November last, [..] see Elizabeth Crosse< no role >
her fellow servt . humbling about her said Master Cloth in
his Shopp and somebody knocking at the door in the meane
time, she the sd Elizabeth brought upp some damaged light
Coloured Cloth out of the sd. Shopp into the Kitchins and desired
this Informt. to hide it, whils't she saw who was at the doore
& when she had given an answr. out at the dining Roome
window, she tooke the sd. Cloth from this Informt. & carried
it upp higher into the Nursery, and abt. a day or two after
the sd. Elizabeth Crosse obtain'd leave of her Mistress to goe out
& took with her a bundle and came home empty handed, in wch.
bundle this Depont. beleives might be the sd. light Coloured Cloth
And ye. in a very short time then after, the sd. Elizabeth Crosse
shew'd this Informt. some knotts ye. she had wch she took out of her
box, and the box being open this Informt. had an apportunity of
looking therein, and did see in the sd. Box a Napkin with her Mastr.
& Mistress name on it, and alsoe some Clouts of the same sort wch.
She this Informt. saw her mistress have afterwards and some other
napkins, one of wch. sd. Rapkip was markt with a Crowne, and
yt. in a foure days after the sd. Eliz Crosse left her sd. Service, and the
night before, arrive the sd. Box out of her sd. Marks house. but wh.
things were in the sd Box when the soe carried it away, this Informt.
doth not know. and ye the sd. Eliz: Books, to sell for her prtending
they were browne, wch. this Informt. told accordingly, & ye. the
this Informt. hath since been Credibly informed by her sd mastrr.
Mistress ye. the sd. Books belonged to them, And this Informt. alsoe
deposeth ye. the sd Elizabeth Cross< no role > did give her one of her Mastr. swell
to pawn, wch this Informt. pawned accordingly for 5 shillings which
money she gave to the sd Eliz Crosse< no role >
