The Information of Samuel Basten< no role > taken
on Oath the Eleventh day of December 1789 before
me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for
the County of Middlesex

Who Saith that on Monday night the Seventh of December
Instant between Eleven and twelve OClock he was going
with William Porter< no role > from Monkwell Street London to
Essex Street in the Parish of Saint Mary White< no role > Chapel
and at the Corner of Bell Lane in Wentworth Street there
were five or Six men on the opposite side the way when
two of them Crossed the way and went up to Porter and
Struk him with a Stick immediately Informant called
out Bill what's the matter, then another man came
up to this Informant and seized held of him, and
Informant threw him down, Then he call out again
to Bill and said he had get him down but received
no Answer, the man he had down hollowed out, and
then a Person came up to him and cut him with
a Weapon on his head [..] some thing like a Cutlass
which he took from under his Cloaths, then he was
Struck again upon his Cheek by another with a
Stick, The blows he received from them quite
made him senseless for some time and soon after he
saw two of them go away and found he had been
Robbed of two Shillings out of his Breeches Pockett
And Saith That Lyon Hart< no role > and Emanuel Marks< no role > [..]
now under Examination are two of the men that ill
treated and Robbed him in manner abovementioned
