The Information of Thomas Davis< no role > of No: 72 Lombard
Street in the City of London Silversmith taken before
me this 9th. day of April 1787

Who being upon Oath Saith, that about a quarter part Six
oClock on Friday last he sent for an Hackney Coach from off
the Stand in CornhillThat a person now present who calls
himself Joseph Tomlin< no role > came with an Hackney Coach No 755
to the Door of this Informant That Informant and John Brothers< no role >
his Journeyman with the Assistance of said Tomlin endeavoured to put a large Chest
containing Silver Plate into said Coach, but being too large, it
would not go in, That Informant and said Brothers then took
said Chest of Plate again into his Houseagainunlocked it
and took three Drawers, in which said Plate was and put them
into said Coach, and tied the empty Chest behind the CoachThat
said Plate consisted of four Silver Butter Boats, one Silver Tea
Pot, one Silver Bread Basket a Silver Milk Ewer and divers
other Articles of Silver PlateThat Informant after seeing
said Drawers with said Plate, put into said Coach, got
into the Same, and was driven by said Tomlin to Great Russel Street
Bloomsbury -That Informant then desired said Tomlin to
take the Chest from behind, and he would assist him, which
he didThat said Tomlin and Informant then took said
Chest into the House of Mr. Pearce in Great Russel Street aforesaid
after which he this Informant to said Coach and took thereout two
of said Drawers (being the smalllest) and left the third in which
saidCoachSilver Milk Ewer was, remaining in said Coach
and said Tomlin Standing at the Door of the sameThat
on Informants returning to said Coach, said Tomlin asked him
if he should get into the Coach, and assist him in getting
out the other drawer, which he didThat on getting it
into said Mr. Pearses House he paid said Tomlin half a Crown
and he drove away with his CoachThat said Tomlin having
