The Information of Thomas
Cosway
< no role > Servant to Mrs Weaver
of the Crown in Church Court in
the Strand Widow and William
Lackbroke
< no role > of the Spread Eagle in the
Strand Victualler taken before me
this 17th. day of March 1787 .

Who being upon Oath severally say and
first the said Thomas Cosway< no role > for himself
Says that about 8 oClock last Night the person
now present who calls himself Thomas Taylor< no role >
came into Mistresses House in Church Court
aforesaid and took out of his pocket a quantity of
Beef and Mutton and the Spoon now produced
That he gave the said Meat to one
Bennett who was sitting and drinking in the
said House That he went to the Bar and
desired his Mistress to give him a Knife That
she accordingly gave him a black handled Knife
That he then went into the Yard and with the
said Knife out said Spoon and began to scrape
it That this Informant seeing what he was
doing observed to a Maid Servant of said Mrs.
Weaver who was standing near said Taylor
That the said Taylor had got a Silver Spoon
and was cutting it That said Taylor then gave
said Spoons to this Informant and desired him
to dump it up and melt it down and then
return it back to him That he then shewed the
said Spoon so delivered to him to the Maid Servant
who advised him to return it to the Prisoner and
to have nothing to do with it That he then offered
to return it to the Prisoner but he would not
receive it That he then by the advice of the said
Maid Servant throw it on a Shed in the Yard
