The Information and Complaint of [..]
Bryan Valentine Robinson< no role > and Samuel Yardley< no role >

taken and madebeon Oath before us two of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace for the said County of Middlesex the
13th day of January 1783.

This Informant Bryan Valentine Robinson Saith that he is Clerk
to Messrs. Henry Goodwin< no role > , James Bracey Perry< no role > , Erasmus Maddox< no role > and
Thomas Thornton< no role > , Brewers and Copartnersatin Lower East Smith field
in the County of Middlesex and Saith that there has been lately
stolen at sundry times from the Warehouse of the said Messrs. Goodwin,
Perry, Maddox, and Thornton, adjoining to pump yard and the Butcher
now near Ratcliff cross in the said County several Bags of Hops their
property and Saith that the Bag of Hops now here produced and in
the Custody or possession of the said Samuel Yardley< no role > in one of the Bags
of Hops stolen from the Warehouse of the said Messrs. Goodwin Perry< no role > ,
Maddox, and Thornton as aforesaid.

And this Informant Samuel Yardley< no role > Saith thatheon the Tenth
day of January Instant he stopt George Hayland< no role > the Prisoner now under
Examination in Osborne Street Whitechappel driving a Cart containing
the said Bag of Hops now produced along the Street towards Brick lane
That upon this Informants asking him where he was going with it
the said George Hayland< no role > said that he was going to carry it to Tottenham
to Mr. Chace the Brewer That this Informant then suffered him to go
on with it but watched and followed him to the end of Angell Alley
in Bishopsgate Street where he stopt with the last that this Informant
believing that the said George Hayland< no role > was a person of bad Character
and had stolen the same he there took him into Custody with the hops
and it afterwards turn'd out that the said Hops had been stolen from the [..]
said Warehouse as aforesaid.
