Peace Acting in and for the said County the
fourthday of January 1783

First the said John Riley< no role > for himself on his Oath saith
that he is Cutter to Messrs. Darby Knett and Co. of Lothbury
London Shop Sellers That on or about Friday the twenty
Sixthsecond day of November last he delivered to Stephen Stroud< no role > on
one hundred and thirty Eight pair of Sailors Breeches to carry
to the House of one John Duke< no role > of Kent Street Southwark Taylor
to be made up That the several Parcels ofGeoBreeches
and Linings now produced are part of the Goods he so
delivered to the said Stephen Strandanddfor the said John
Duke
< no role > as afsd on the said 22d day of November last
This Informant John Duke< no role > for himself on his Oath saith in
that he was present at Messrs. Darby Knott< no role > & Co. in
Lathbury when the said Goods were delivered to the
said Stephen Stroud< no role > as aforesaid which he this
Informant was to make up and was Answerable for
the Value thereofThat thethe said Stephen Stroud< no role >
having been Robbed of the said Goods as he was informed
and believes he this Informant hath made Satisfaction
to the saidSatisfaction toMessrs Darby Knott & Co. for
Partthereof the same That on receiving Information
that part of the said Goods were concealed in the
Dwelling Houses of Mrs Berry of Hingland and
Benjamin Donty of St Catherines he applied to a
Magistrate for Warrants to search the said
Houses lastly saith that the several Parcels of
Goods now produced are his property and then
same that he believes were Stolen from Stephen
Stroud
< no role > his Porter as afsd.

This Informant Stephen Stroud< no role > for himself on his
Oath Saith that on the said twenty second day of
November last he received a Parcel of Goods
from the saidJohn George Riley< no role > to carry to the House
of the said John Duke< no role > in Kent Street afsd. That in
his Way there he put thenhis Bundle down
on the Stand or Porters Block
