Shod. if he liked itby this time Inft. was undressed
except his Breeches & Stocking & was pulling of his Breeches
when he heard a find of Crackling before Stairs & (it
having been said by his Mar. & ors. at times in the House
that it was haunted) Informt. said Laughingly
heresom Old Man comingUpon which this Mar.
said hastily. "Put the Candle out. put the Candleout
I hear no NoiseInft. said back! hark! the
crackling comes nearer & refused to put the Candle
& said [..] Egad here" [..] at coming & having jumped
upon ye Bed just pulled his Breeches off & was
going into Bed with his Stockings on when he heard
a Violent Rapping at the Street Door & a Great
Noise in the StreetUpon which his Master
immediately jumped out of Bed took hold of the
Candle and said "I am ruined" I am ruined &
pushed the Chamber Door open. which opened against
the Stairs going down & immediately Cryed out
Fire"Mrs. Crawford-" Mrs Crawford.' and such
a Smoke came immediately into ye Room it nearly
suffocated Informt. who immediately followed his
Master and both ran up Stairshis Mar. havg.
the Candle in his hand which went outMrs.
Crawford Cryed out" whats the Matter &
immediately his Mar. burst open the door, told her
& Inft. burst open ye Window of her Room, who
said Let me put on my Petticoat & immediately
All three got out nearly Naked & made one the
Roof to a Neighbours House in Holywell Street
thro' which they Escaped

Saith that ye time of his Mars. coming
into ye House, going down Stairs, coming up &
getting into Bed, cod. not exceed much above a
