Liberty
Who being severally upon Oath say and First
this Informant George Wheatley< no role >
for himself
Saith that he is one of the Clerks at Robert< no role >
and Henry Drummond< no role >
and Company Bankers
at Charing Cross
that on Thursday afternoon
the Eighth of this Instant September a person now
present who calls himself William Lewis< no role >
brought a Draftdatd Septemr. 8 1770.in the
following Words
Messrs. Drummond
Pay the Bearer the sum of Fifteen
pounds and place it to the account of
I Pownall
Septr. 8th. 1774
and presented the same to this Informant
for Payment. upon which this Informant desired
the said William Lewis< no role >
to write his name
upon the back of it which he did by the name
of Thos. Smith< no role >
now Indorsed thereon
this Informant then paid him the said
Fifteen pounds in one Bank note for that sum
that the next Morning upon Examining the
Several Drafts of the proceding Day some
Suspicion Arose that the aforesaid Draft was
not of the hand Writing of Mr Pownal upon
which a Clerk was sent with the said Draft
to Mr Pownall who brought back for Answer
that it was not of his hand Writing
