The Information of Thomas Little< no role > of Oxford Chapple Court in the
Parish of Saint Mary Le bon in the County of Middlesex Carpenter
taken before me this Seventh Day of December 1768

Who being upon his Oath Saith that a Person now Present
whose Name is John Allen< no role > Came yesterday to this Informant and
Asked him if he had given a Promisery Note Value £50 to one Isaac
Levy
< no role > , to which this Informant Answered he had, and told him at the
same time he was busey and that he would meet him Next Day
at the Valiant Trooper in Oxford Street ; Accordingly this Informant
and a Person whose Name is John Hall< no role > and is here present,
went to the Valiant Trooper as Aforesaid at the time Appointed
When they came there, they found the said Allen, who told this
Informant that he had taken a Promisery Note of his; Value £50
for Goods on One Isaac Levy< no role > , this Informant then told him, that
Isaac Levy< no role > was in the Kings Bench Prison; On which he the said
Allen said, to look back to Levy he should get Nothing, and told
this Informant that he Considered he had a Large familly and would
Compremise the Affair with him, for he Could better afford to loose
then him; and purposed to take five Guineas for the Above
Promisery Note; which said Note he then produced to John Hall< no role > as
Aforesaid, And this Informant at the same time produced five Guineas
the said Hall desired this Informant to look at the Note to see if it
was his writing; Accordingly this Informant did; and said it was
not his writing and that it was a forged NoteWhere upon this
Informant took up the five Guineas again And the Said Hall
Put the Note into his Pockett BookOn which he made a pretence
to go out as if to make watter and when he got to the Door he immediately
run of and Said Hall prooved him and brought him back to the
Valiant Trooper And Asked him his reason for running away
The Answered, that the Name of forgery Struck him, on which
Hall told him he looked upon him to be a bad Man and desired
this Informant would take him before a Magistrate which they
Accordingly Died.
