Anthony Smith< no role >

Bateman Saddington< no role >
taken before me
this 30th day of August 1769
Who being upon Oath severally say and first the Said the said Anthony
Smith< no role >
of himself says that on Tuesday the 15th day of August Instant as
he this Informant was returning from Barnet he was told by a person in
a Phaeton upon Finchley Common
that he the said person had been robbed
just before by Highway man and that the said Highwayman was still
in Sight riding away which this Informant pursued him and over took
him and saw a Pistol taken from him and further says that a person now
present who calls himself Joseph Simpson< no role >
is the Same person that was
so pursued by this Informant, and the Said Bateman Saddington< no role >
for
himself Says that he was in Company with the said Anthony Smith< no role >
at
the Time and place aforesaid when they were informed of the said Highway Robbery
that he also pursued the said Highway man part of the Way, and that he does
verily believe that the said Joseph Simpson< no role >
now present is the person who
was pointed out to them to be the said Highwayman
