An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King as the Parish of Saint
Andrew Holborn in the Ward of Farringdon without in London aforesaid on the third day of april in the
thirty second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by she Grace of God of Great Britain
France and Ireland King defender of the Faith and so forth Before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the Body of
and Hickman now here lying dead By the Oath of Thomas Higgins< no role > , William Pontifix< no role > , Samuel Geerrier< no role > ,
John Clarke< no role > , Robert Gaze, Samuel Singleton< no role > , Thomas Nokes< no role > John Hopwood< no role > James Hopkins< no role > ,
William Vincent< no role > , Francis Dukes, Elias Norman, and Joseph Roffe< no role > , good and lawful men of the
Parish and ward aforesaid who being now here duly Chosen Sworn and Charged to inquire for
Low said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said Ann Hickman< no role > came taken death
say upon their Oath that the said Ann Hickman< no role > not being of Sound mind memory and
understanding but Lunatic and distracted on the Second day of april in the Year aforesaid
one end of a certain piece of String of no value unto and abut acertain Iron Hook fixed in the
wainscot of a certain Room of a certain House there Situate and the other and there of round and
about her own Neck then and there did fix tye and Fasten by means whereof she the said Ann
Hickman did then and there hang Strangle and Suffocate herself of which said Hanging
Hangling and Suffocation he she said Ann Hickman< no role > did then and there die
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that she said Ann Hickman< no role >
not being of sound Mind Memory as understanding but Lunatic and distracted in manner
and by the means aforesaid did hang and Kill herself In Witness whereof as well the said
Coroner as the said Thomas Higgins< no role > the Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of himself and the
rest of his fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition Set their Hands and Seals the
Day Year and place First above Written.
