Account
The Minutes of the Statement of Mr. Church warden
Walton's third Quarters Account being Read over and that there
was a Balance in hand of £296..6..5 Mr. Walton made as
statement of what further sums he had to receive and pay as
nearly as he could ridge and submitted to the Vestry whether they
would give any directions concerning his said present Balance
to have the same or any part of it invested in the public
Funds for the benefit of the Parish Or if it should be paid over
with any other monies he might have in hand at the final
Settlement of his Account to his Successor in office And the
same being taken into consideration It appeared to be the Sense
of the Vestry That it would be improper to lay out any part
of said Balance in the public Funds but that the rates for the
Church and Poor should be reduced as for as could be done
with propriety.
Removal of
Poor
Several Gentlemen desiring to be informed from what cause
so considerable a saving had been made Mr. Church Warden
Walton Stated it to arise in a great measure from the advantage
the Parish had received by the removal of the poor from Hoxton
to
Mr. Mackenzies at Islington
which had fully answered Expectation
and notwithstanding the great reduction of Expence the poor ever
well treated and taken care of And Mr. Walton further observed
he had caused all the poor in the workhouse
to be new
cloathed.
Mr. Duncan then moved that the thanks of this Vestry
be given to Mr. Church Warden Walton for his great care and
attention to the poor and the affairs of the Parish and being
seconded the question was put and unanimously agreed to
It was also requested that Mr. Walton would continue
to pay the Poor and discharge the workhouse
Bills to Midsummer
day
