Maintenance
of Poor.

This Vestry was held pursuant to public Notice given in the
Church relating to the poor in the parish Work house and upon
other Affairs.

And Mr Church Warden William Kippax< no role > acquainted the Gentlemen
present that he had received from Mr Richard Birch< no role > the Master of the
parish Work house a paper Writing dated 2d May Instant, complaining
of the Dearness of provisions, that he could not keep the poor any longer
and desired the parish to provide for them elswhere in three Months
unless such further provision or Allowance was made to him as
therein is mentioned

And he read the said Notice or paper Writing in his places

Ordered that the same be immediately taken into Consideration

Ordered that so Much of the Order of Vestry made the 28th Septr
1763 as related to a former Complaint by Mr Birch of the Dearness
of provision be now read, and the same was read Accordingly

Ordered that the Names of the Gentlemen who were then of
the Committee appointed to treat with Mr Birch touching the Matter
of his Complaint be now called over, and they were severally called over

It was then Moved that the same Committee be Empower'd to Treat
with Mr Birch and make the best Terms they could with him for
keeping the parish poor by Allowing him some Gratuity and for such
time as they at their discretion shall think fit, without prejudice to the
Articles of Agreement now subsisting between him and the parish
And in case they could not Agree with him, that the same Committee
be Empowered to treat and Agree with any other person or persons for
providing for and Maintaining the parish poor, and to Advertize the
same, And being Seconded the Question was put on the said Motion
and past in the Affirmative
