Robert Harris< no role > Maketh oath that divers Years ago his
late Father Charles Harris< no role > deced Rented a house of Six
Pounds a year in Maes Pond in the Parish of Saint Olave
in Southwarke in the County of Surry & lived in the same
Many Years & Carried on therein the Business of a
Shoemaker And this Depont. Saith that during such his
Fathers Residence in the Said house he hath often seen
him Pay the kings Tax for the sd. house and Verily believed
he was Charged in the kings Tax Books for the same and
that by means thereof his Said Father gained a legal
Settlement there and this Depont. doth not know nor was
ever informed or Can Setforth whether his said Father
ever did any Act to gain a subsequent settlement And this
Depont. Saith that he never lived as a hired servant for a
year nor ever was an Apprentice Nor ever rented a house
of Ten Pounds a Year or upwards nor ever served any Parish
offices nor ever Paid any Poors Rates or kings Taxes Nor
ever did any Act to his knowledge or belief to gain a
Settlement in his own right And that he hath a Daughter
named Elizabeth< no role > Aged about Nineteen years the lawful
issue of this Deponent by his late wife Judith< no role > deced &
which said Elizabeth hath not as yet done any Act to gain
a Settlement in her own right.
