Continued Thursday 28th: Novr: 1793
the Surveyor that in taking down the Brick piers he had
found part of the foundation so very defective that it would
be extremely imprudent to carry up the new Brick work with
out digging the foundation lower and if necessary to drive
some Piles and plank them and as these particulars were not
foreseen by the late Surveyor and consequently not included
in his report nor in the Contract he could not proceed
any further without the directions of the Committee
And the Committee having taken the circumstances into
their consideration directed the Surveyor to draw up a report
of their additional work necessary to be done to the foundation
which being produced and Mr. Poynder and Mr. Statford
being called in they agreed to perform the same for the
sum of £50 exclusive of the £600 agreed for by the
former contract which is still to remain in full force
and not to be in the least altered by the additional
work then agreed for
And the Committee Resolved that the Jobbing Carpen-
ter who is constantly kept in the Hospital and who had
hitherto been paid by Mr. Statford their Carpenter should
in future be paid by the Steward the weekly wages of 18s.
And that the Treasurer having proposed that Robert
Horseman< no role >
be employed as the Jobbing Carpenter
the Committee
had approved the appointment
That in pursuance of Public Advertisement the Com
mittee had Contracted with Thos. Dalby< no role >
to supply the Hos
-pital with Beef Mutton Veal and Park from Michaelmas
to Lady day next at 2s/10d Pr. Stone.
