And had ordered that a Covenant should be inserted in the Lease
to be granted to Mr. James giving him a right to the use of a passage
on the South side of Wapping Street leading to the Thames in
common with the other Tenants of the Hospital
That the Treasurer had reported that he had purchased £600
3 Pr. Cent Consils for Bridewell Hospital and indented to purchase
£963.7.4 3 Pr. Ct. reduced for the use of the Incurable
The minutes of the Prison Committee were read whereby it appeared.
That they had considered the Letter from Mr. Snugg the Contractor
for performing the alterations and repaired of the Buildings
intended for a Men Prison referred to them by the General
Court on the 30th. of July last past and after several meetings
and a minute investigation of the causes of the accident they
Resolved that it was the opinion of the Committee that an Actn.
or Actions should be commenced and prosecuted against Mr.
Snuggs and his Sureties for non performance of the Contract.
And that the Committee had Resolved that the Surveyor should
prepare a Plan and estimate for a Building in that part of
the Hospital intended for a Mens Prison which would best
carry into effect the original intention of the Governors.
And had distributed £50 among the sufferers by the falling
of the Building
And had Resolved that the Barber to the Hospital should be
at liberty to charge 1½d Pr. head for Shaving the Prisoners
from Xmas last
The minutes were then confirmed and the Court ordered that an Action
should be commenced agreeably to the opinion of the Committee and
prosecuted under their direction
