Upon Reading the humble Petition of John Perry< no role > late
Apprentice to Thos. Dunn< no role > in the Words and figures following. "I humbly
beg leave to Acquaint you that I am that Lad who was discharged at the
last Court held at this Hospital and since that time I have made a Strict
Application in Spital Fields to get Employ but finding every endeavour
prove fruitless upon the Account of not having sewed a regular
Apprenticeship and having no Friend that would take any Notice of me
I found myself involved in a Condition truly distressed. Yet at the
same time utterly detesting to follow any Occupation which was not
in itself both honest & commendable I Solicited Mr. Owen to take me
for the remainder of my time who considering the situation I was in
told me If I could get readmitted into the Hospital again he had no
Objection as I have no other View of doing well I should be very happy
of this Worshipful Committee would take it into Consideration so far
as to give me that privilege as it shall be may Constant Study for the
Culture how to Act so as to merit so great and peculiar a kindness"
