Several Peices of Ground in Wapping at £25 P Ann rent from Middsr. 1703 for be
Years which will Expire at Middsr. 1764Upon which he Ented diverse
Messes and Ware houses which by Mesne Assignments became Vested in the Petr.
Walkerand four of the said Mosses with the Warehouses Etc being on the
Southside of Wapping Street
were inburnt down to the
Ground & not insured That on the Petitioners Walkers Petition for an Additional Term
of 41 Years in the Said Ground the Governors on 18th July 1744 Ordered that on Sanding
the Old Lease and paying £150 fine and laying out £1000 in rebuilding the premes
burntA New Lease shoud be granted of the Ground where on the Houses Stock.
that were burnt from Middsr. 1744 for 61 years at £8 P Ann (part of the Old rent of
£26) Clear of TaxesAnd a New lease of the residue of the Premes in the
Old Lease for the Remr. of the Term then to come therein at the rent of £5 P Ann
(residue of the sd. Old rent of £25) Clear of TaxesThat in 1745 the Petitioner

Agreed with the Petitioner Walker for the Purchase of all the Premisses and were Sincere
Fire the Sd. ground has been unlett till July last the Petition Brown Agreed with one

to let him a Lease of the Said Ground on the South Side of Wapping
Street
on his laying out £1000 in Building there on from Michas 1718 for 61 Years
which will Expire at Michas 1809 at the rent of £16 Clear of TaxesAnd
Accordingly Curtis has laid out near £2000 in building two Substantial houses
with a Bake house & Ware houseThat the Petitioner Walker is ready for Surrender
said Old Lease & desired that two Leases may be made to the Petr. Brown who is
Willing to Accept Same & pay the said £150 but cannot perfect his Agreement with
Curtis without having a further Addition of 4¼ Years to make the said Term in the said
Ground expire at Michas 1809And praying that the two leases may be granted to the
to the Petitioner Brown AccordinglyAnd Mr Brown being called in and Consenting to
pay the said Fine of £150 and the further Sum of £20 In lieu of Interest for the same
for the time pastThe Comittee are of Opinion that on Surrendring the Old Lease
and Paying the said Fine of £150 and further Sum of 20s a Lease be granted to the said
Petitioner Brown of the said ground and new Erected building on the South side of
Wapping Street
To hold from Michas 1748 for 61 Years at £8 a Year clear of Taxes
And another Lease of the rest of the Premes Comprized in the said Old Lease
To hold from Middsr. 1748 for 16 years at £17 P Ann Clear of Taxes All which is
nevertheless Submitted to the Judgement of the Court And it is Ordered that this Opinion
be Reported the CourtThis Court haveing duly weighted and Considered the sd.
Report Doth Confirm the same & Order that 2 Leases be made to the said
