Mr. Deputy Hunt one of the Governors of these Hospitals reported to this
Court that in pursuance of an Order of Court the 15th. day of May Instant He and
Mr. John Purcas< no role > another of the Governors had made Enquiry and found that John Coles< no role >
who Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital is Sett up for himself in the Trade of
a Shoemaker and hath the Character of a Diligent and Sober Man
Whereupon it is Ordered that the Steward of this Hospital do give and pay unto
the said John Coles< no role > Ten Pounds out of Mr. Locks Gift to be
Allowed him in his next Account.

Ten Pounds out of Mr. Locks Gift to be allowed him in his next Account

Upon Reading the humble petition of Joseph Beacham< no role > doctor Glover Setting forth
That he Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to Mr. John Geldart< no role > late one
of the Artsmaster s by Indenture dated the 16th. day of Janry 1739 and by Order of
Court the 8th. of April last he was on the 19th. day of May Instant made free of this
City and is Sett up for himself his said Trade at Mr. Cooks in Hughes Court
Water lane Blackfryers And the Court being informed that the Comittee
of this House on the 26th.day of May instant Inspected the
Book kept of Apprentices behaviour and found no Complaint against him
It is Ordered that Mr. Deputy Hunt Mr. John Purcas< no role > andMr. Abraham Dr. Rawlinson
Purcasthree of the Governors of these Hospitals or any two of them be desired to
enquire whether the said Joseph Beacham Procter< no role > be Sett up in his said Trade
and of his hopefulness therein and to make their Report to the Court,

< no role > were brought up and Examined about the Disorder and Ryot Comitted
upon Ludgate Hill on Easter Monday the 20th. day of April last by Several of
the Apprentices belonging to this Hospital and this Court being Acquainted
that his Lordship the President had immediately examined into the Matter and Seen that
Satisfaction was made to the Parties Injured, but did not think fitt to inflict
any other Punishment on the offenders untill the affair shod. be further considered
by this CourtAnd it Appearing to this Court that the two first (Vizt) George Smith< no role >
and John Green< no role > were not present till after the affray was begun they were
reprimanded and Sent Home to their MastersBut it appearing that Garland
Arnold, and Squire, were at the begining of it. It is Ordered that they be kept to hard
Labour at the Hempblock till this day fortnight and that none of the apprentices be
Suffered to come near them,
