Upon reading the humble Petition of Sr. Thomas Webster< no role > Barrt . Settingforth
That by Lease (No.20) Dated 31 July 1703 in consideration of the Surrender of a
Former Lease and other Considerations therein mentioned the Governors of this
Hospital demised to Henry Whistler< no role > A Toft or parcell of Land in Wapping
whereon stood diverse Messuages or Tenements before the same were burnt down
by the then late great fire thereAnd all the Messuages Tenements Yards
then standing and being thereonTo hold from Midsumer then last for 61 years
at the yearly Rent of 25. which will expire at Midsumer 1764That the
said Henry Whistler< no role > shortly after erected and bult on the said Ground diverse
Messuages or Tenements which are for the residue of the Term therein Invested
in the PetitionerThat most of the Houses are of small Rents (of about
£7. or £8. P ann each) and so ruinous that he is Annually obliged to lay out
great Sums of money in the repair thereof and several of there in Wapping deck Street
Wapping Street new Markett Street and Cinnamon Street have received much
damage by the late fire and must be rebuilt before the Expiration of the said Lease to
the very great expence of the Petr.And praying the Govrs. would grant him
an Additional Term of years in the said Premes to commence from the
Expiration of the former Lease or to give him such other relief as to them should
Seem meetIt is Ordered that it be referred to the Committee of this
House to consider of the said Petition and to report their Opinion therein to the Court.

of Elizabeth Arnall< no role > settingforthThat by Lease (No. 6) dated 28th. July 1719 in
consideration of £50. as a fine the Govrs. of Bridewell Hospital demised to Elizabeth
Fell< no role > Widow a House on the South side of Wapping Street backwards to the River of
Thames in the parish of Saint John Wapping in the County of Middlesex to hold
from Michas 1715 for 21 years at the yearly Rent of £5. which expires at Michas
nextThat the said Tenement which is an Old Timber Building and the Piles
or fence against the said River are so much decayed that it will cost above £150.
to pat the same into good RepairThat by Lease (No. 5) dated 28th. July 1719
in consideration of £40. as a fine the said Govrs. demised to Elizabeth Arnall< no role >
Widow the Petr. Mother a House on the Southside of Wapping Street in the
parish of St. John Wapping in the County of Middlesex to hold from Michas
1715 for 31 years at the yearly Rent of 20s. which expires at Michas 1746
That the Petrs. said Mother is since dead having first made her Will and
thereby demised the residue of the Term in the last mentioned house to the Petr.
Elizabeth and made the Petrs. Executors of her said WillThat the Petrs.
propose to surrender up their said Lease & the Term therein yet to come and to
take a New Lease from Michas next of both the Houses mentioned in both
the above Leases for 31 years at the old Rent and to pay a Fine of £70. and
to repair the premes at their own ChargeAnd praying the Govrs. would
grant to them or one of them a New Lease thereof according to their sd. proposals
It is Ordered that it be referred to the Committee of this House to consider
of the said Petition and to report their Opinion therein to the Court.

That the Governors of this Hospital by Indre dated 28th. July 1719 demised to
Elizabeth Fell< no role > Widow A Messuage or Tenement on the South side of
Wapping Street backwards to the River of Thames in the parish of Saint John
Wapping in the County of Middlesex containing from East to West on the North
side thereof 23 foot 8 Inches of Assize and from East to West on the South side
thereof next the Thames 27 foot 3 Inches of AssizeAnd the Passage from
Wapping Street to the North Entrance of the above Messuage containing in
breadth from East to West five foot of Assize and in heighth from the floor of
the said Passage Seven foot and Six Inchesand the Doorway at the
South and of the floor of the said PassageTo hold form Michaelmas
1715 for 21 years at £5. P Annum Rent; which Lease expires at Michas next
