Poor of ye Precinct of
Orudewell: state of ye Care to
be drawn up, abot. ye Inhabitants
not paying to ye rate}
This Court being Informed that the Number of Poor People in the
Precinct belonging to the Hospital of Bridewell
is very great & daily Increasing by the
House Keepers taking many Inmates & Lodges into their houses And that the Collection
made both in the Hospital & Precinct together with £24 P Anum Allow'd by the
Governors towards the Watch & Poor is not Sufficient to Provide for 'em And that
Several of the Inhabitants in the Precinct refuse to pay any thing at all to the Poor
It is Ordered that it be Referred to The Comittee of This House to take
this matter into Consideration And they are Desired to give the block of these Hospitals
Directions to draw up a State of the Case in Order to be laid before Counsel for
their Opinion thereon.
