At this Court the following poor Boys were Order'd to be put
out Apprentices at the Nomination of the Governors hereafter Named Vizt:

at Xmas. 1724}


Upon Reading the humble Petitions of the four Beadles & Porterman of this
Hospital for their usual Gratuitys of Forty Shillings a peice in respect of the half year
ending at Xmas last for that their Salarys are but smallIt is Order'd that
the Clerk of these Hospitals do give and pay unto them Forty Shillings a peice to be
Allow'd him in his next Account.

at Xmas 1724}


Upon Reading the humble Petitions of the three Beadles or Basketmen of the
Hospital of Bethlem for their usual Gratuitys of Twenty Shillings a Peice in respect of
the half year ending at Xmas last for that their Salarys are but small
It is Order'd That the Clerk of these Hospitals do give and pay unto them Twenty
Shillings a peice to be allow'd him in his next Account.

to be put appr to a Master
of a Ship for 5 years}


John Mason< no role > Apprentice to John Burnham< no role > one of the Artsmasters of this
Hospital was brought before the Court from the Clerk where he had been Continued by
Several Orders of Court upon the Complaint of his said Master and his said Master
Acquainted the Court that the said boys Aunt was Desireous he shou'd be bound
Apprentice to a Master of a Ship & Sent abroad & the said boy said he was willing
to be so bound And this Court being of Opinion it will be for the boys benefit who
in all probability will be rained if he stays at home Doth Order that he be
bound apprentice to a Master of a Ship for five years and that one of the Beadles
of this Hospital do find him a Master & See him bound accordingly.

set to ye block for 6 Months
& to set no more than he earns}


John Payne< no role > Apprentice to William Phillips< no role > One of the Artsmasters of this
Hospital was brought before the Court from the Block where he was Comittee
by Mr President for being abusive to his Master & Mistress & beating his fellow
Apprentices & threatning to do something to be Sent to Newgate for & going out
without Leave whenever he had a mind to it And his said Master acquainted
the Court that the said boy Carried a Razer about him Several days in order
to do Mischeif to some of the Family which Razer he pulled out of his pocket
when the Beadles apprehended him in order to Carry him before Mr President
& swore he wou'd go to Newgate sooner than be taken and the said Boy did
not Deny what was Alledged against him Whereupon it is Order'd That
the said John Payne< no role > be Set to the Block to hard Labour for Six Months &
that he be allow'd to Eat no more than he Earns

BowersGeorge< no role > pet for
his freedom rejected}


George Bowers< no role > (who Served his apprenticeship to William Bell< no role > late one
of the Artsmasters of this Hospital) petitioned this Court to be made free of
this City But Mr Treasurer Acquainting this Court that the said Bowers is in
the black book Eight times for faull Comitted during the time of his Apprenticeship
his said petition was rejected.
