Mary Wells< no role > aged about 24 Years Upon Oath
says she was never Married and that she lived a
hired Yearly Servant with Farmer Howard in
the Parish of Redburn in the County of Hertford
for one Year and Upwards at the Yearly Wages
of Twenty Shillings or thereabouts hath quitted
said Service about twelve Years and hath not
since Rented house paid Taxes or lived a
hired Yearly Servant for one Year And further
upon her Voluntary Oath says she is pregnant
with Child or Children which is likely to be born
a Bastard or Bastards and to become chargeable
to thesaidParish of St. Clement Danes in the
County of Middx where she now lodges she
being poor and Unable to Maintain the same
when born says that Mattw. Blackbourne< no role > a Journey
-man Painter had carnal knowledge of her body
sometime in the Month of March last and at
several other times since at one of which times
he got her with Child of the Child or Children
with which she is now pregnant and that the sd.
Mattw. Blackbourne< no role > and no other Person did
beget the same.
